6-20-06 Psalms 4:6

Psalms 4:6 (KJ21)
There are many that say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us.

Psalms 4:6 (NAS)
Many are saying, "Who will show us any good?" Lift up the light of Thy countenance upon us, O LORD!

Psalms 4:6 (NIVUS)
Many are asking, "Who can show us any good?" Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.

Psalms 4:6 (NLT)
Many people say, "Who will show us better times?" Let the smile of your face shine on us, LORD.

There are an abundance of people who have a negative outlook on life and it seems that their numbers are on the increase. These often cast their lots together and commune with each other, speaking those depressing thoughts that are on their minds and hearts. They speak what they see, for they have no faith for anything else. They ask if anyone will be good to them. Like everyone else, these people want to be approved of; they desire the best for their lives. They want to see beauty, favor, kindness, and cheer, but they cannot discern any of these.

You, however, know and understand that the best things come to you from the Lord Jehovah. You speak of and enjoy the Lord's love. You know you are precious in His sight. The light of His face shines on you as the morning sun. He has turned to you with regard and acceptance. He has forgiven you and lifted you out of the darkness and depression of your former life. You have no need to ask, "Who will do me good?" You have seen and experienced the goodness of God in your life. You will continue to have favorable prospects, for you trust in the Almighty to illuminate you.
