Psalms 4:4, 5 (NIVUS)
In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. (Selah) Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD.
Psalms 4:4, 5 (NLT)
Don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. (Interlude) Offer proper sacrifices, and trust in the LORD.
There are things that cause you to become excited; other things enrage you. Both of these can make you tremble, quiver, or become agitated. However, you should not let your emotions lead you into sin, so that you do wrong and incur guilt. You do not want to stray from the path of right and duty, for then you will miss your goal and bear loss.
When you are lying on your bed at night, do not get carried away with your negative thoughts. Instead you speak to your heart and soul about the promises and commands of God. This will quiet your emotions and in the silence you will be able to wait on the Lord. You will be cleansed and washed of the sin that has been hovering nearby. You will not be destroyed nor perish.
It is important that you offer sacrifices unto the Lord Jehovah. When you do what is right and just, your sacrifices are acceptable. As you manifest the righteousness of God, you will walk in deliverance, prosperity, and victory. You will continually enjoy your salvation.
Therefore, put your trust in the Lord God. In Him you have security and safety. He makes you bold and confident. Pause often and think about these things and you will be exalted.
