6-18-06 Psalms 4:2, 3

Psalms 4:2, 3(KJ21)
O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity and seek after lies? (Selah) But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for Himself; the LORD will hear when I call unto Him.

Psalms 4:2, 3 (NAS)
O sons of men, how long will my honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? (Selah) But know that the LORD has set apart the godly man for Himself; The LORD hears when I call to Him.

Psalms 4:2, 3 (NIVUS)
How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? (Selah) Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.

Psalms 4:2, 3 (NLT)
How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make these groundless accusations? How long will you pursue lies? (Interlude) You can be sure of this: The LORD has set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him.

The sons of men often live in confusion, for they do not honor and respect Adonai, the Almighty God. They are blind to God's glory and abundance. They bring shame and humiliation upon themselves through their dishonoring attitudes. They actually are an insult to the Most High and do not have the sense to blush at their actions. These men love vanity; when they look in a mirror, they fall in love with themselves. They like to be idle and their lives only reflect emptiness. They seek lies and deceit, which leads to failure and disappointment. When they are weighed in the balance, they come up light, for they have no substantial substance.

You, however, need to know and realize that you are different than these who mock God. You have been marked out and separated for the Lord Jehovah. The Lord has given you a wonderful life, for you have proven to be godly, faithful, pious, and kind. You do not live with the shame and reproach of the ungodly. You know that the Lord your God will hear and pay attention to your calls. God is interested in your cries and comes to your help.
