10-26-06 Psalms 11: 4- 5
The LORD is in His holy temple! The LORD’S throne is in heaven! His eyes behold; His eyelids test the children of men! The LORD trieth the righteous; but the wicked and him that loveth violence, His soul hateth.
Psalms 11: 4, 5 (NAS)
The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD’S throne is in heaven; His eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men. The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, And the one who loves violence His soul hates.
Psalms 11: 4, 5 (NIVUS)
The LORD is in his holy temple; the LORD is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them. The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates.
Psalms 11: 4, 5 (NLT)
But the LORD is in his holy Temple; the LORD still rules from heaven. He watches everything closely, examining everyone on earth. The LORD examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates everyone who loves violence.
Jehovah is the eternal God, who is your sovereign Lord and Master. He has the ruler-ship over your life, for He is supreme over all else. He is holy and pure. He is sacred and there is none other like Him. He dwells in His palatial temple: there He endures in power and might. Jehovah is seated on His lofty throne in heaven, His throne that is covered with His glory. Even though He is hidden from your view, His eye gazes with pleasure on you. He is always contemplating and beholding you, as you would look upon and enjoy a beautiful landscape. At the dawning of the day, Adonai examines and tests you as His child. He also investigates and tries the activities of the sons of men.
Because you are loved of the Lord and righteous, cleansed and made right by the blood of the Lamb. The Lord your God looks upon you to prove that you are just and law abiding. He does not do this just to show your flaws, but also to test your strength. Like metals are continually tested until they are perfect for their use, so are you tried.
The wicked, those who are morally wrong, guilty and condemned, do not receive the love of God. In fact they have made themselves enemies and foes of the Most High. These love violence rather than righteousness. Every thing they obtain is through unjust gain. They are oppressors who maltreat others. The Lord sees their actions and hates them. When He tries them, it will be for punishment instead of blessing.
