5-25-06 Isaiah 59:17

Isaiah 59:17 (KJ21)
For He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation upon His head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

Isaiah 59:17 (NAS)
And He put on righteousness like a breastplate, And a helmet of salvation on His head; And He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, And wrapped Himself with zeal as a mantle.

Isaiah 59:17 (NIVUS)
He put on righteousness as his breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his head; he put on the garments of vengeance and wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak.

Isaiah 59:17 (NLT)
He put on righteousness as his body armor and placed the helmet of salvation on his head. He clothed himself with the robes of vengeance and godly fury.

Being clothed is a concept that began with the Lord Most High. He dresses Himself in justice and righteousness; He is arrayed in prosperity and salvation. These are all parts of His armor and weaponry which He uses to loose and set you free. On His head, Adonai wears a helmet of deliverance, welfare and victory.

When the Almighty God has fully clothed Himself, He does so to wreak vengeance upon His enemies. He seeks to punish those who have acted with treachery and deceit. Because they are faithless, they are offensive in His sight.

Jehovah the Lord has wrapped and enveloped Himself with the zeal to avenge His chosen ones, for His adversaries have provoked Him to jealousy. Their transgressions and trespasses against you have aroused God's anger and wrath
