4-30-06 Proverbs 19:11

Proverbs 19:11 (KJ21)
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Proverbs 19:11 (NAS)
A man’s discretion makes him slow to anger, And it is his glory to overlook a transgression.

Proverbs 19:11 (NIVUS)
A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

Proverbs 19:11 (NLT)
People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs.

Anger seems normal, especially in today's society. When you drive in a congested metropolitan area, you face aggression and rage on a daily basis. News broadcasts often report on murders, rapes, and assaults and many times those are actions produced in anger. However, none of these should be normal for the child of God.

You will face anger and things that displease you, but you can choose not to act on those angry feelings. Because you are a child of God, you have prudence, insight, and understanding. The wisdom of Adonai, the Almighty God, is at your disposal. You can ponder and consider your actions beforehand. You can defer your angry feelings. When you hesitate and delay in reacting in anger, when you are patient and slow to anger, you open a door of prosperity and abundance for your life.

You have the power to overlook and forgive those who trespass and transgress against you. You can pass over and get beyond their sinful actions and words towards you. As you advance past these hurtful things, you will see beauty and glory manifested in your life. You will receive honor, rank, and renown when you live in forgiveness.
