7-7-07 Genesis 28:15

Genesis 28:15 (NAS)
And behold, I am with you, and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.
Genesis 28:15 (NIVUS)
I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.
Genesis 28:15 (NRSV)
Know that I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.

The Bible is a record of many lives that experienced the faithfulness of Adonai, theMost High God. One of the first of these was Jacob, who later was known as Israel. The Lord promised to guard and keep Jacob wherever he went. Jacob saw this protection not only from his brother Esau, but also from his father-in-law Laban. In both instances, the Lord took care of him and kept him safe. Jacob knew that wherever he walked, coming or going, that he was under his God's watchful care. He also knew that whether he lived or died, he could trust God and His word. You, too, can know the same thing.

When the Lord first spoke to Jacob, He identified Himself as the God of Abraham and Isaac, Jacob's grandfather and father respectively. Jacob had seen how God kept His promises to both of these, his ancestors. Therefore, Jacob knew that he could believe the promises that the Lord also made to him.

Not only did the Lord promise to keep Jacob, but He also promised to return him safely to his homeland. When Jacob finally came back home, he was a different man. God had refreshed and restored him, but the Lord had also been working on his brother Esau. When they were reunited after years of separation, God had repaired their relationship. Jacob had fled in fear of his life, but upon his return, he found a loving brother.

Jehovah had also said that He would never leave Jacob until He had done all that He said He would do. The Lord God has also promised never to leave or forsake you. Like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, you can depend on God's word. He will not abandon nor neglect you. What He has promised and declared to you, He will do. Like Jacob you will see the fulfillment of even the smallest detail.

So take heart. Reaffirm your trust in the Lord. You will see the accomplishment of His will for your life.
