2-28-07 1 Samuel 2:6-8

1 Samuel 2:6-8 (NAS)
The LORD kills and makes alive; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. The LORD makes poor and rich; He brings low, He also exalts. He raises the poor from the dust, He lifts the needy from the ash heap To make them sit with nobles, And inherit a seat of honor; For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, And He set the world on them.

1 Samuel 2:6-8(NIVUS)
"The LORD brings death and makes alive; he brings down to the grave and raises up. The LORD sends poverty and wealth; he humbles and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. "For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; upon them he has set the world.

Almighty God, the Creator of all life, is also the One who can cause all to perish. Although He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, He can send them to the grave, the place of no return. Sheol, the abode of the dead, is a place where no one offers praise to God. Those who dwell there died in their sin, not trusting their lives to the Lord Jesus.

However, those who are righteous will not be abandoned to Sheol. Through Yeshua's shed blood, they have received everlasting life. The Lord Jehovah has quickened them, restoring them to life and health. He preserves and sustains them, prosperously providing all that they need to live. He has raised them up from death, taking away even its sting. The Lord gives the righteous excellence in all things, making their lives superior to any of the wicked.

The wealth that the wicked has laid up is not eternally secure; for the Lord can easily cause them to lose it all. He can take all of the riches that they have accumulated and transfer it to account of the righteous. He has promised to prosper His children, making them rich. One way that He accomplishes this is by dispossessing His enemies of their inheritance and laying it up for the just.

The Lord will also humble those who have exalted themselves, bringing them low. These who have pride in the works of their own hands shall be abased, for they have set themselves up as "gods" and have spurned the One True God. However, those who humble themselves before the Lord shall be exalted. He will raise them up, seating them in Heavenly places, for they know that without Him they are nothing and have nothing outside of His grace and mercy.

The Lord raises those who are poor and weak out of the ashes and dust. Although they were used to continuous distress, they are now established and secure in the Rock of their salvation. Jehovah lifts the needy beggars from the refuse heap and dung hill; for they sought His help. He sits them with royalty, making them to dwell with noble men. They have inherited a seat of honor and are hidden in the glory of the Lord. He covers them and conceals them from their enemies. The Lord restores their dignity and reputations, giving them honor. They receive abundant riches, for the Lord their God owns the earth and all that it contains. He has more than enough to give to all of His children.
