6-21-07 Matthew 5:7

Matthew 5: 7 (NAS)
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Matthew 5:7 (NIVUS)
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

God keeps sending blessings to His children, who have chosen Him as their Father. Like any children, God's children want to imitate their Father. God is merciful. He shows kindness and good will towards the miserable and afflicted. He desires to help them in any way He can. Men needed freedom from sin and in His mercy, God sent His Son Jesus to become sin for them so that they could become the righteousness of God in Him.

Like your Father, you extend mercy to others. You are kind and good to those who do not deserve it. You give help in whatever way that you can. You have a heart of compassion, feeling sympathy for those in misery.

Thus, when the Lord looks at you and sees your intentional acts of goodness and kindness to others, even when they hurt you, He has no other choice than to grant you the same mercy that you have shown.
Receive His mercy, for He desires to bless you!
