5-1-07 Galatians 5:1

Galatians 5:1 (NAS)
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1 (Philips)
PLANT your feet firmly therefore within the freedom that Christ has won for us, and do not let yourselves be caught again in the shackles of slavery.

Once you were a slave, held in bondage by your own sinful nature. You did as you pleased, not caring how or if it affected others near you. However, now you have been set free; you are no longer bound and a slave to sin. It can no longer dominate you. You are free to be who God created you to be!

You must now maintain your liberty by standing firm in it. You must be firmly established in your decision to receive that freedom that you have been freely given. Whether you are in the presence of those who would judge you or whether you are standing alone, you must stand still and immovable on the foundation of Christ Jesus. He will keep you safe and intact, for you stand in His authority and with His power to sustain you.

Do not let yourself be ensnared and entangled again with sin. Do not join yourself to anything that is in opposition to the Lord. Do not hold onto any evil, possessing it as your own. Do not continue to act from your old nature. Even though it wrestles with you for control, do not give into it again. Do not become its slave, yoked to it in bondage.
Put off the old man and put on the new! You have been set free. So stand, therefore, in that freedom that Jesus died to give you!
