2-26-06 1 Samuel 2:3
Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogance come out of your mouth; for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed.
1 Samuel 2:3 (NAS)
Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the LORD is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed.
1 Samuel 2:3 (NIVUS)
Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.
1 Samuel 2:3 (NLT)
Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don’t speak with such arrogance! The LORD is a God who knows your deeds; and he will judge you for what you have done.
It is easy to exalt yourself, for pride and arrogance reside in man's sinful nature. Like Satan before, you can start to speak highly of whom you are and what you do. In saying that you are great, you actually greatly transgress. You may carry yourself in a lofty manner and have a haughty attitude. You think you are advancing, but you are just growing old.
However, it is important that you do not let any arrogant or proud words come out of your mouth. Do not deliver any exalted speeches, for they can shatter and dash others to pieces. Instead let your words be ones that exalt the Lord Jehovah.
The Most High God knows everything that you say and judges your words by His Word. He perceives your deeds and practices. If you act ruthlessly and abusively towards others, you only prove yourself to be a fool. And the Lord will deal with you severely. He will measure and weigh each and every word and action. He will test and prove you; then in His grace and mercy, He will adjust you to His standard. You will come into perfect balance.
