4-9-07 John 5:21

John 5:21 (KJ21)
For as the Father raiseth up the dead and quickeneth them, even so the Son quickeneth whom He will.

John 5:21 (NAS)
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.

John 5:21 (NIVUS)
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

John 5:21 (NLT)
He will even raise from the dead anyone he wants to, just as the Father does.

Often when we are facing something unknown, we can become fearful. If a situation arises to which we have never been exposed, we can become apprehensive, for we do not know what to expect. Death is one of those unknowns. Even though we have seen other people die, we have not faced it ourselves. Therefore, we may feel fear and apprehension at that prospect.

However, if you have given your life over to God to control, even in death you can trust Him. Adonai, the Heavenly Father, has the power to raise anyone from the dead. For Him, it is like arousing a person from sleep. Even if you have breathed your last and your body is lifeless, since you have devoted yourself to the Lord, you know that death cannot hold you.

Like His Father, the Lord Jesus has the same power and control over death. He has the power to restore you to life. Your life will be active, blessed, and endless in the Kingdom of God. The Lord will exert His power on your soul, so that it always remains vital, fresh, and alive. It is His determined purpose to keep you with Himself forever and ever. You do not need to fear death, for even when your body dies, your spirit will remain alive throughout eternity.
