4-3-06 Exodus 34:6

And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

He passed in front of Moses and said, "I am the LORD, I am the LORD, the merciful and gracious God. I am slow to anger and rich in unfailing love and faithfulness.

You probably have a good idea of who you are. You know your strengths and weaknesses. If someone asked you for a description, you could give an apt reply. Likewise Jehovah the Lord has no problem in declaring who He is.

At one point Moses asked to see the glory of the Lord. Jehovah complied and passed before his face. When He did this, He proclaimed that the Lord God is compassionate and merciful. He has tender affection for and loves His people deeply. He is gracious and considerate. He shows favor and pity to those whom He loves.

Another thing that the Lord called out was that He is patient and slow to anger. Since He is faithful to His word and His character, He is abundant in goodness and kindness. Mercy flows from Him like water. What the Lord says is sure and reliable. You receive true ethics and knowledge from God and His word.
